I had such a wonderful week getting to know all of my students!  We accomplished so much, and really set the stage for a great year.  Here is what we did this week:
  • Learned school and classroom rules and procedures
  • Learned about each other
  • Completed a project where we displayed our knowledge of the school handbook using picCollage and turned it in to edmodo.
  • Took our first reading assessment to find our reading levels.
  • Found an independent reading book that would transport us to the "Reading Zone".

Your goal for this challenge is to answer this question:
What are the Top 5-10 Things you need to know from the Student Handbook?

Directions:  Create a project on the iPad app, PicCollage that answers the question above.
Step #1:  Skim the Student Handbook.
Step #2:  Create the PicCollage project answering the question..
Step #3:  Save PicCollage to Library
We have already covered so much information about our school rules and procedures- it's been a productive first day!  In the upcoming week, we are going to:

1.)  Learn about each other, our classroom routines and expectations.
2.)  Take surveys and assessments to get to know each student as a reader.
3.)  Discuss good books and talk about how we choose books we want to read.

Please don't hesitate to ask questions if you don't understand something.  I'm looking
forward to getting to know you all this year!
My hope for you this year is that you discover books that you would want to read over and over again- because they're that good!  Here are a few of my absolute favorites, although I have too many to count:
  • Pendragon Series, by D.J. MacHale
  • Hatchet, by Gary Paulsen
  • Matched Trilogy, by Ally Condie
